Intermodality is considered as an option for combining the strengths of all transport modes, while constraining the negative impacts of the transport sector on the environment. This session will demonstrate that road haulage combined with rail and/or waterway transport can provide an environmentally acceptable solution, and thus increasing the role and adding value to intermodal nodes like freight villages and terminals.
